The Review: Recruitment Agencies
There are a
number of reasons people have come to dislike recruitment agencies. Based in Australia I have noticed many are
fly-by-night. Last week I published the
horror story of a candidates battle against agencies, my client Johnny Reis,
with ample qualifications and experience was prepared to go on the record. If
you haven't read his story it can be found using this link http://jasonbrillrecruitmentagencyvscandidat.blogspot.com.au/
Clearly not
all recruitment agencies are bad, but how can a candidate be sure you are operating within the guidelines of
the RCSA code?
The code
requires confidentiality and privacy.
The RCSA
code calls for honest dealings with candidates, clients, consultants and
members. There are a number of recruitment agencies posting up jobs that do not
exist. Using social media a lot I can't
help but notice the amount of jobs being posted- Many of them do not exist. How
many candidates have gone into agencies to hear the position has been withdrawn,
or it's 'gone' but something suitable will be coming up soon.
The RCSA requires recruiters have professional
knowledge that their work is satisfactory and shows an up to date level of
professional knowledge. Having been a candidate and currently engaging with
them, there are many recruiters who have not been trained and do not understand
the market.
The full RSCA
code can be found on www.rcsa.com.au.
I am
currently interviewing recruitment agencies who are willing to show they abide
by RCSA principles.
